Dr. Vishal Sharma (Senior Member IEEE, Life Fellow IETE), Principal Technologist at Metanoia, Inc. a niche Bay-area firm providing deep dive technical expertise to clients in telecom network- and systems-design and strategy. Metanoia, Inc. has helped players across the telecom ecosystem (spanning chip/semi-conductor companies, system vendors, operators/carriers, technology houses, and telecom software and tool companies) solve complex problems by providing services in technology strategy, architecture & design trade-offs, product development, hardware/software architecture, & competence building.
Vishal is a seasoned international telecom industry expert, with global exposure, who has executed assignments for clients on 4 continents -- North America, Europe, Asia, & Australia, and worked both in the US and India. His multi-faceted roles over the last 20 years have included: entrepreneur, technologist, technical leader, academic (professor of electrical engineering), educator, technology evangelist & advisor, technology writer, editor, and speaker, & researcher in academia and in industry labs.   Konstantinos Samdanis | NEC Europe

Konstantinos Samdanis is a Senior Researcher and backhaul standardization specialist at NEC Europe Ltd, Germany working in the field of network management for LTE and mobile backhaul. Konstantinos is active at the Broadband Forum (BBF) in where he is the editor of a Work Item named Energy Efficient Mobile Backhaul. He has served as a guest editor for the IEEE Communication Magazine FT “Service Interoperability in Ethernet Passive Optical Networks (SIEPON)” and he is also the co-chair of the IEEE Telecommunication Standards Workshop 2013.
In the past he has delivered numerous tutorials and talks in the field of green communications in various IEEE conferences, while his interests include also Software Defined Networks (SDN) for carrier networks and cloud networking. Konstantinos has also contributed on 3GPP System Architecture Group 5 in the areas of Self-Organized Networks and Energy Saving Management. He received a PhD in Mobile Communications from King’s College London, UK in 2009.

Paolo Volpato, Alcatel-Lucent Paolo Volpato

Since 2008, Product Strategy Manager in the Wireless Transmission division of Alcatel-Lucent.
His function deals with the evolution strategy and positioning of ALU’s microwave product portfolio. His interests include networking and mobile backhauling, specifically in the LTE domain.
He has been working for more than 20 years in TLC. Prior to joining Alcatel-Lucent, Paolo worked for Wind, the second largest operator in Italy, as Network Architect; Infostrada, an Italian fixed operator, in Network Planning; and Italtel, in R&D.
Paolo has a degree in Electronic Engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan; and owns a master in “Marketing & Communication”.
He’s currently involved in NGMN (Next Generation Mobile Networks) in the workgroup devoted to the evolution of mobile backhaul networks to support the introduction of LTE and 4G services. In this role he co-edited two white papers on LTE backhauling and Security in LTE backhauling.
At present he is contributing to a paper focused on the backhauling for small cells.

Julian Lucek, Juniper Networks Julian Lucek | Juniper Networks

Julian Lucek is a Distinguished Systems Engineer at Juniper Networks, where he has been working with many operators on the design and evolution of their networks. Before joining Juniper Networks in 1999, he worked at BT for several years, at first in the Photonics Research Department and later in the data transport and routing area. During this time he gained a PhD in ultrahigh-speed data transmission and processing from Cambridge University. He is the holder of several patents in the area of communications technology. He has a Master's degree in Physics from Cambridge University and holds Juniper Networks Certified Internet Expert (JNCIE) certification number 21. He is co-author of the book "MPLS-Enabled Applications: Emerging Developments and New Technologies", by Ina Minei and Julian Lucek. Vishal Sharma

Michael Howard co-founded market research firm Infonetics Research in 1990, and today is recognized worldwide as one of the industry’s leading experts in emerging markets, network operator trends, and user buying patterns.

Chuck Kaplan is currently responsible for Ciena’s industry marketing group, including the service provider, enterprise, government, and subsea sectors, driving the creation of holistic solutions specific to varying needs and objectives of each customer group.     With more than 30 years of experience in the telecom industry, Mr. Kaplan brings a broad telecom industry perspective to Ciena.  Previously, he worked in private equity as the Chief Operating Officer at Narad Networks, and has served in marketing and product/solution marketing roles across the cable and telco network space.  He has served as Vice President and General Manager of Communication Products at Philips Electronics; Vice President of Marketing of Subscriber Products at Scientific Atlanta; and, Director of Product Management for Hitachi Telecom USA. Didier Bousser is a Manager of System Engineering and Technical Pre-Sales at WANDL. He is involved in managing complex roll out of WANDL network planning and management Solutions and supporting Service Providers in optimizing/auditing their multi-vendor infrastructure.
Prior joining WANDL in 2001, Didier was managing a team of network planners in Global One (Joint venture between Sprint, France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom). Didier also worked for Deutsche Telekom as a network engineer and in France Telecom research center as a software developer (CNET Network Optimization team).
