He has been active in data telecommunications standards for the past 16 years. He has been active for over 25 years as an architect, design engineer, and developer of real-time systems in diverse areas of technology ranging from process control and avionics to financial transaction processing. Thomas has joined Deutsche Telekom in 1996. Since 2004, Thomas is responsible for the technology architecture of the Triple Play enabled IP/MPLS network of Deutsche Telekom. He has designed the Seamless-MPLS approach consisting of access, aggregation and backbone and he was involved in the first GbE based mobile backhaul installation within Deutsche Telekom. She has over 100 technical publications, including IEEE articles, conference papers and industrial speeches.     Clarence Filsfils Distinguished Engineer CISCO Clarence Filsfils is a Distinguished Engineer at Cisco Systems where he holds key roles in Engineering and Marketing. Clarence has played a leadership role in the development of Quality of Service, IP/MPLS Routing Resiliency, Large-Scale Routing and IP/Optical Integrated Control-Plane technology at Cisco Systems. Clarence is a regular speaker at leading industry Conferences and Standards Development Organizations like the IETF. Prior to joining Infinera, Michael was General Manager, Unified Communications Solutions Business Unit at Avaya and responsible for the Integration of the Nortel Enterprise Solutions Business into Avaya. Norbert Fuchs joined Nokia Siemens Networks at its creation in 2007 to the role of Senior Solution Consultant for packet networks solutions for fixed and mobile networks. Prior to his present assignment, Norbert has worked with Siemens AG since 1996 and held several senior positions in Services, R&D and System Engineering. Since its creation in 2002, Norbert is contributor of the “ResIP Center” – Nokia Siemens Networks’ leading R&D centre for IP Transformation.     Ori Gerstel CISCO Ori Gerstel is a Principal Engineer at Cisco, where he is responsible for identifying opportunities for integration of routers and transport technologies, such as the IP over DWDM architecture. Prior to this, Ori was in charge of Cisco’s Optical Advanced Technology team, and is the key inventor behind advanced capabilities of Cisco’s DWDM product. Before joining Cisco in 2002, he was a Senior Systems Architect for Nortel Networks’ MEMS based photonic crossconnect product. Until 2000, Ori was the Systems and Software Architect for the Optical Networking Group at Tellabs, where he architected the first commercial mesh DWDM system (TITAN 7100). Prior to that, he performed early optical networking research at IBM Research. Ori authored over 70 papers in international conferences and journals and over 35 patents on optical networks. He served on conference committees, such as OFC and INFOCOM and has been the technical co-chair of Broadnets and IPoP. He also serves as an editor for several international journals such as JOCN and has been teaching short courses at OFC. He holds a Master of Science in Telecommunications and Internet Technologies from Technikum Vienna.     Julian Lucek JUNIPER NETWORKS Julian Lucek is a Distinguished Systems Engineer at Juniper Networks, where he has been working with many operators on the design and evolution of their networks. Before joining Juniper Networks in 1999, he worked at BT for several years, at first in the Photonics Research Department and later in the data transport and routing area. During this time he gained a PhD in ultrahigh-speed data transmission and processing from Cambridge University. He is the holder of several patents in the area of communications technology. He has a Master's degree in Physics from Cambridge University and holds Juniper Networks Certified Internet Expert (JNCIE) certification number 21. He is co-author of the book "MPLS-Enabled Applications: Emerging Developments and New Technologies", by Ina Minei and Julian Lucek. The third edition of this book was published in 2011.     Juan Rodriguez Martinez TELEFONICA Juan Rodriguez received his Electrical Engineering degree from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), Spain. In 2004, he joined Telefónica I+D (Research & Development) in Madrid, being since then involved in data networking related European projects, both IST and CELTIC. He was also a participant in a National Spanish funded project, dealing with network intelligence mechanisms. Currently, he is working as a Technological Specialist at the “Scalable Multilayer Photonic Networks” Initiative in Telefónica I+D, leading the R&D activities on the evolution of MPLS. He has also finished in 2011 a Master degree in Space Technologies.     Pat Moore Director Busines Development, Network Technologies METASWITCH NETWORKS Pat Moore will have worked at Metaswitch (previously known as Data Connection) for 25 years next month. His various positions at Metaswitch have covered a broad spectrum of roles, including R&D, support and sales. In his current role as Director of Business Development for Metaswitch’s Network Technologies, he works closely with partners and customers to ensure that Metaswitch continues to deliver the network solutions that OEMs and carriers demand. Prior to Metaswitch, Pat worked in the academic community. Following an MA in Physics from the University of Cambridge, and a PhD in Astronomy from the University of Manchester, he worked for six years as a researcher in Radio Astronomy at Jodrell Bank (UK) and the Very Large Array (NM). In addition to astronomical research, his work included the development of image processing algorithms. Tom is an active participant in the IETF, ITU, and IEEE. He is co-author numerous protocol, architecture and MIB documents in the MPLS, BFD, L2/L3 VPN, MPLS-TP, pseudo-wire, and traffic engineering areas, including being a co-author of over 40 IETF RFCs, numerous internet drafts, and ITU-T contributions. Tom has filed over 30 patents in the area of networking, and has been granted over a dozen US Patents. Tom is a member of the advisory board at of several start-ups specializing in networking technologies. Tom's current interests and activities include sustainable farming, cloud computing, cloud management and Software Defined (or Driven) Networks.     Maria Napierala, Technology Architect, AT&T Maria Napierala is a Technology Architect at AT&T Laboratories, since 1994. Her recent work is in the cell-site backhaul and Enhanced Packet Core designs for AT&T LTE deployment, Her other interests are in areas of large scale IP/MPLS backbone routing, MPLS traffic engineering, multicast, and MPLS applications such as VPNs. Prior to joining AT&T worked as a senior software engineer in Network Routing Systems group at IBM. Maria is an author and a contributor of several IETF drafts and has presented at several international MPLS conferences. Currently, working as a Director of Solutions Engineering, Cisco Systems, Azhar is responsible for End-to-End System Architectures, Systems and Solutions validation and testing of Service Provider IP NGN and Mobile networks. He is also responsible for building technology and business reference architectures for Cisco’s end-to-end solutions. In the last couple of years, Nurit is in charge of the company's standard and Industry Environment activities related to Packet Transport Evolution, covering aspects such as packet transport network, synchronization, 40/100 GB Ethernet, MEF architecture and services, solutions over packet such as Mobile Backhauling, Enterprise services, etc. Nurit is an expert in packet transport networks and technologies, contributes to the related work in IETF, ITU-T SG15, IEEE and BBF, and participates in core discussions on next generation packet transport network with Tier-1 carriers. Nurit participated in the European CELTIC TIGER project which analyzed solutions for a better adaptation of IP and Ethernet layers to address the Metro Ethernet growing market. This project won the Celtic Excellence Award in gold.     Yaakov (J) Stein CTO RAD DATA COMMUNICATIONS Yaakov (J) Stein is CTO of RAD Data Communications (Tel Aviv). He also lectures at Tel Aviv University and actively participates in IETF (where he co-chairs the TICTOC working group) and other standardization forums. He has authored numerous articles, patents, and standards, and the textbook “Digital Signal Processing, a Computer Science Perspective” (Wiley:2000). Before joining RAD he was Advanced Technology Manager for Comverse Information Systems, DSP and Neural Network team leader with Efrat Future Technologies, Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science at Polytechnic University (NY), and Research Scientist with the Israel Ministry of Defense. He holds a BSc in physics, mathematics and computer science, and MSc and PhD in theoretical physics, all from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was recipient of the Israel Defense Award (Israel’s highest award for defense-related research).
