Phil Tilley | Alcatel-Lucent

Global Marketing Co-Chair, MEF
Senior Director, IP Portfolio Strategy, IP Division, Alcatel-Lucent

Phil Tilley currently holds the position of Senior Director, IP/Ethernet portfolio strategy for Alcatel-Lucent’s IP Division. His responsibilities include developing the market awareness of Alcatel-Lucents IP product portfolio, working with service providers to ensure success with their business services portfolio and building the required IP skills within Alcatel-Lucent to support a market leading IP portfolio.

Phil is also the Global marketing Co-Chair for the MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) where he is working with other vendors and service provider members to increase awareness and adoption of Carrier Ethernet. He is involved with all the MEF marketing workgroups to ensure consistent messaging and understanding of the benefits of Carrier Ethernet and is a regular contributor to the board.

Phil has over 20 years engineering and marketing experience. He has worked closely with many carriers throughout Europe advising on the latest market trends and how these carriers can bring the technologies to market in a user centric manor.  He is a regular presenter and chairman in industry conferences.

Phil Tilley joined Newbridge Networks  in 1992, prior to its acquisition by Alcatel, starting as an approvals engineer. He subsequently held posts as product specialist, product manager and new carrier sector marketing manager.

Phil Tilley has a Bachelor of Science degree in electronic engineering from the University College of North Wales.
   
 
 
   

Shahar Steiff | PCCW

AVP Business Operations, PCCW

Shahar has joined PCCW Global in 2001 and has served in various sales, pre-sales product development and management roles. In his current assignment Shahar has to ensure solution design and product line-up meet customer demand in a cost effective manner.
Shahar has been involved in the international telecoms arena for over 20 years and has seen the progress from traditional SDH platforms, through ATM, Frame-Relay and MPLS to today's VPLS and Ethernet technologies.

Prior to his current role in PCCW Global Shahar has worked for Teleglobe Inc. and for NetVision, an Israeli ISP.

Shahar is also an active member of the Steering committee and the current Co-Chair of the OSS-ICDS forum. The OSS-ICDS forum brings together international carriers from all continents and develops the processes and documents associated with Inter-Carrier Data Services, including IPLC, MPLS and Ethernet.
   
 
 
   

Joachim Burkle | ERICSSON

Director Solution Management, Ericsson

Mr. Bürkle works as Director Solution Management in the area of IP, Optical and Microwave Networks. His recent work topic is SDN. From 1996 to 2000 he was a system engineer at Bosch Telecom/Marconi in Germany and the United States, in the area of SS7 voice switching, ATM and IP broadband access systems (PON, AON) and point-to-multipoint microwave systems. From 2000 to 2009 he has been a consultant and manager of market development at Nortel, in the area of wireline data networks (including ATM, Frame Relay, IP, MPLS, and Ethernet) for wireless operators in EMEA. He also was an editor/co-editor of several request for comments (RFCs) in the IETF, and is actively contributing to the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF). He received a master's degree in computer science from University Karlsruhe (TH) in Germany in 1995.

Johannes Weingart | Brocade

D-A-CH Marketing Co-Chair, MEF
Senior Product Manager – Data Center Group, Brocade

Johannes Weingart works as regional Senior Product Manager within the Data Center Group of Brocade. In this role he is responsible for management and launch of Brocade’s Data Center Ethernet/IP product portfolio which provides solutions for data center networking, within the Data Center as well as in-between. His regional responsibility is the EMEA region with a specific focus of the DACH region. Main working areas are Ethernet Fabric solutions and Data Center Interconnect solutions based on Dark Fiber/WDM as well as Ethernet/IP VPN technology.

Previously Mr. Weingart worked as a Product Manager for Service Providers like BT Global Services, TeraGate AG and EuNetworks where his main focus was on Wavelength Services, Ethernet Connectivity (LAN Extension, Carrier Ethernet) and on IaaS (Cloud Storage).

Mr. Weingart also worked as Application & Solution Manager for ADVA Optical Networking and held various positions in Siemens, including SDH equipment and system development, NMS product management and network operation consulting.
Mr. Weingart holds a degree in Information Technology Engineering from the University of Munich and is an active contributor to the work of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF).
   
 
 
   

Richard Strike | ADVA OpticaL NETWORKING

UK Marketing Co-Chair, MEF
Application and Solutions Director, ADVA Optical Networking

Richard Strike has been Co-Chair for the MEF UK Marketing team since September 2011 and runs regular UK meetings covering MEF topics. Richard joined ADVA Optical Networking in 2005 and has held roles in Systems Consulting, Business Development and Solutions Management.  Over the past 10 years he has been heavily involved the evolution of Ethernet from a best-effort technology to today’s de-facto carrier-class solution for delivering business, mobile and residential services. Prior roles were with 3Com, Nortel Networks, and Transmode where he held positions in R&D, Product Management and Technical Marketing. Richard holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Durham.
   
 
 
   


Johan Witters | Alcatel-Lucent

MEF Benelux Marketing Co-chair
IP Business Management and Consulting, Alcatel-Lucent

Johan joined the research division of Alcatel in 1992, where his main focus area was QoS and ATM. Since then he held several positions within the company with an end-to-end solution focus in voice-data convergence. In 2003, Johan joined the marketing group within the IP division, being responsible for consultancy on business data services, including IP and Ethernet VPNs as well as value added services such as Application Assurance. He worked also as Network Solutions and Cloud Consultant, including network transformation and cloud services. Recently, he joined the IP Business management team in EMEA.
He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Antwerp, Belgium and is holder of several patents in Telecom. He has been a speaker at numerous conferences on topics like VPN, IP, Carrier Ethernet and Business Services and is author of publications on these topics. For years, he is active as MEF ambassador and has presented many times on behalf of the MEF. He is also Benelux marketing co-chair.
   
 
 
   

Rami Yaron | PERPETUAL SOLUTIONS

Rami serves as a Vice President of Technology and Business Development at Dragonwave, a leading provider of high-capacity packet/hybrid microwave radios and pseudo wire Ethernet switches. His responsibilities include: technology and standards, mobile backhaul network design for network providers and WSPs, and strategic product management.

Rami has over 15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. He is an active participant at the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), the Broadband Forum (BBF), and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). Within the MEF he is a member of the Mobile Backhaul (MBH) sub-committee as well as an MBH ambassador for the Americas. At the BBF Rami is a member of both the Network Core and the End-to-End Architecture groups and he also serves as an ambassador.

Prior to his current role, Rami held various positions in Engineering, Architecture, Product Strategy, and Business Development at Axerra Networks, Carrier Access, and Paragon Networks. All companies focused on solutions for the Mobile Backhaul market.
Rami holds an MS in Computer Science and an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Haven.
