Where are we today? What is tomorrow made of?

What really is 5G? An interesting question as these technological issues regrouped under 5G are so varied and diversed.

On the other hand, 4G is nestling on a very precise evolution: Passing to OFDM and to x10 or x15 broadband rates.

Today 5G offers an era of new and various guidelines which will eventually leads to a New Generation Networks in the horizon 2020.

The standardization process will start in 2016 at the 3GPP while the ITU will manage the frequency allocation. Today, there is a consensus on requirements that we can organise under 4 sub-categories:

Responses will be delivered during the 5G Observatory Conference to be held in Paris next 8 and 9 March 2016.

The Agenda: Spectrum challenges, 5G Roadmap, IoT Deployments

Renowned experts from Research Labs, Service Providers and Telecom Equipment Vendors will cover the outcomes of the World Radio communication Conference 2015 and the ITU-R work plan for the development of the 5G radio standards and the identification of radio frequency spectrum for its operation. Main sessions will address radio access issues, 5G & IoT, virtualized and software evolutions. Several debates and panels will discuss 5G Roadmap, Business cases and what needs to be redefined for 5G IoT.

The agenda is now available online

In connection with the Fog Networking Conference

The Fog Networking Conference will follow the 5G Observatory, on March 10th & 11th (same venue).

The event will start with a Tutorial session on the Fog Computing and the MEC initiatives.

Sessions will highlight contextualized objectives and motivations (Fog & 5G, Fog & industry, Fog & IoT services, etc), architectures and applications enablers (wireless network optimization, security issues).

Co-located with the MPLS + SDN + NFV World Congress

With a record attendance of 1500+ people, coming from 65 countries, the 2015 edition has confirmed the Congress as the first worldwide event in the SDN, NFV and MPLS areas.

The Interop Showcase

The European Advanced Networking Test Centre (EANTC) together with Upperside Conferences will organize, as each year, a public Multi-Vendor Interoperability test and showcase during the Congress.

The EANTC team will present results in regular guided tours to conference attendees. The showcase is open for the full four days of the conferences (Tuesday to Friday).

The showcase will explore the areas of Service Provider WAN and Data Center SDN as well as, as every year, co-host the only industry-wide packet clock synchronization interoperability. Initial topics are:

• Segment Routing
• Ethernet VPNs
• SDN Controllers
• Yang Models for Services
• LTE Clock Synchronization Readiness
